Wave // David Altmejd

In the Andre Rosen Gallery in 2012, David Altmejd displayed a plaster installation simply called the ‘Wave.’ It appears to be sectioned into three parts, probably due to the size of the piece, something i will keep in mind if i decide to create work on a larger scale. I’m under the impression that the disembodied hands are the hands of the artist and appear to still be creating texture, movement and dimension to the piece. It has prompted me to think about how i will develop my own hand casts and the different ways i can show the damage each hand gesture can make.
